So he's not gay after all: earlier this week, Al Midan, an Egyptian tabloid that rarely ventures out of the gutter, published pictures of what they said was Gamal Mubarak's fiancée. Gamal, 41, has been Egypt's most eligible bachelor for years but was never spotted with any companion. That had led to rumors spreading that if was not that interested in girls, much like Morocco's King Muhammed VI. I never quite believed that Gamal had chosen an alternative lifestyle, there were reports of him living with a girlfriend when working for Bank of America in London in the 1990s. I preferred to think those long nights spent on generating New Thinking® and battling the old guard of the NDP meant he had to make cutbacks on his social life. It's so lonely on Daddy's lap.
But never fear, Gamal seems to have found quite a lovely catch in Khadija Gamal, a 23-year-old graduate of the American University in Cairo. (Note Gamal's political acumen: her first name, that of the Prophet's first wife, is sure to give him a more pious allure in these conservative times while her last name- •
Gamal Mubarak, the son of Egypt's president, and his wife have had a baby girl, state news agency MENA said on Tuesday.
Farida Gamal Hosni Mubarak was the first child born to Mubarak, 46, seen as a potential successor to his father, and his wife Khadija el-Gammal.
The Egyptian president already has a number of grandsons, but Farida is his first granddaughter. Mohammad Mubarak, the president's 13-year-old grandson from his son Alaa, died last year from health complications from apparent food poisoning.
President Hosni Mubarak, 81, is recovering in a German hospital after having his gallbladder removed earlier this month. The medical team treating him at Heidelberg University Hospital said he had benign tissue removed.
Egypt issued initial pictures of the leader in a bid to instill calm in the country after the president's duties and authority were handed over to his prime minister, Ahmed Nazif.

Egyptian embassy in London grants Mubarak's grandson travel documents
The newborn grandson of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been granted official documents needed to travel to Cairo from London, where he was born last week.
The Egyptian embassy in London had reportedly denied Gamal Mubarak's newborn a birth certificate, citing the legal necessity of the presence of the father or the grandfather, which was not possible since Mubarak and his two sons, Gamal and Alaa, are currently serving a prison term over charges of abusing state funds.
The embassy also reportedly refused to issue the birth certificate with the name of the child's mother, requesting authorisation from Egypt's public prosecutor.
According to Egypt Independent, Karim Hussein, the founder of the pro-Mubarak "Sorry, Mr President" Facebook page, accused the embassy of intransigence against an innocent child, especially considering that a final verdict has yet to be issued against Gamal Mubarak.
Sources close to the family told al-Arabiya that Gamal Mubarak's wife, Khadiga el-Gammal, had trav
