Imany Named Best Female Singer at Globes de Cristal Awards
Imany in Swahili, means hope, faith … And that’s Imany’s driving force. She moves forward in life, surfing on her dreams! Raised to the sounds of the voices of Tracy Chapman, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner and Billie Holiday, she conquered France and Europe with her first album You Will Never know and through energy filled performances.Born in the south of France, raised in Paris, having spent a few years in New York, where she evolved in the fashion workd, Imany chose bare it all, and is accompanied only by a guitare as if she wanted to emancipate herself from music genres, and not be distracted by the artificial and decorative. Now she’s back for a series of show with her duo, as if taken back to the beginning, certainly the sign of a new album in the works.

Musical artist
Nadia Mladjao (born 5 April 1979), better known by her stage nameImany (IM-ə-nee), is a French pop-soul recording artist of Comorian descent. Her debut album, The Shape of a Broken Heart,[1] which was released in 2011, reached platinum status in France, Greece and triple platinum in Poland.
Early life
She was born in Martigues near Marseille, in a family from the Comoros[2] in 1979. Her stage name, Imany (Imani) means faith in Swahili (from Arabic ايمان - imaan). As a youth, she was an athlete, doing high jump.
Career
She became a model for the Ford Models Europe. She went to the United States for seven years,[3][4] before coming back to France, when she started her singing career.[5][6][7]
In 2008, she began singing. She performed at the Beau Lounge, at the Réservoir, at the Bellevilloise, and at the China Club.
Imany’s first album, The Shape of a Broken Heart, which was named after a drawing she made with closed eyes, Nadia Mladjao can do anything. She carved a place for herself in a large Comorian family, where she always managed to have her say. She cut her teeth as a model in New York City before the calling from music was too strong to ignore. But Nadia would tap into true power, once she took the stage – under the name, Imany. She released two albums, The Shape of a Broken Heart (2011) and The Wrong Kind of War (2016), which blended soul and folk with incredible panache. Penning a hit, “Don’t Be So Shy”, as the girl power anthem for the film Sous les jupes des filles, directed by Audrey Dana. Imany also broke taboos around endometriosis while fighting alongside the ENDOmind association – a move inspired by her own personal journey. Imany spoke about the responsibility of the artist when she performed at the Victoires de la Musique awards. And now, surround herself with eight cellists for an album of cover songs she makes all her own. Once again, Imany takes center stage, never forgetting where she came from. Eight cellists and a single voice has never been dared. A wh
