Slizer, Young Igwe unite for Dhewa commemorations

By Tawanda Marwizi

Motswana musician Naledi Kaisara, who is popularly known as Slizer, will rekindle her performance combination with Peter Moyo for the Tongai Moyo commemoration shows to be held across the country.

This will be the first time Slizer will share stage with Young Igwe, as Peter is popularly known, after she publicly spoke about their alleged love affair and threatened to reveal more about their relationship.

The two held a number of joint shows last year. The big show of the commemorative gigs will be held at Harare Gardens on October 5 and a number of local musicians will share the stage at the mega show.

Another musician from Botswana, Charma Girl, is also expected to perform.

Gift Petro, who is Slizer’s Zimbabwean manager, confirmed the dancer and vocalist will be coming for the commemorations.

“All is now in place because we have agreed with the organisers to have Slizer join Peter for the shows. She will travel with him for most of the gigs,” he said.

The first gig will be held at Mbizo

Naledi Lephoso Kaisara, best known by her stage name Slizer is by far one of the most talented musicians to emerge out of Botswana. She is a prolific house-kwasa artist who fell in love with music since high school and has been a backing vocalist and a dancer for a number of local groups. She is one of the few female artists whose name tops the country’s arts headlines. She kicked-off her musical career in 1999 as a backing vocalist and dancer for Alfredo Mos, the late Sisc as a backing vocalist and dancer.

In 2008 she founded music outfit called Slizer Creations and recorded her first debut album ‘O ‘tswa kae’ that same year. The project saw her earning fame in her country and across the borders.

She has performed at various musical festivals, galas, corporate and state functions mainly in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, and Lesotho to mention only a few countries.

She has received a number of musical awards in Botswana, including the Botswana Music Union Awards in Best Female Artist, Best Performing Group, Best DVDs, Best Kwaito-Kawasa Group, and has
