Eurekha! - Hardcover
From the Author
Rekha has always interested me. I have kept track of her personal life and her career with an amount of interest though I am not really a fan of the actress. What has always interested me is her ability to survive, her transformation from a rather silly looking, crude creature to a sophisiticated woman of the world. Her love affairs were always splashed in gossip magazines and her `marriages` made front page news. Here was a colorful icon begging to be written about. Somehow Indian authors don't get the opportunity to be a part of Indian film industry as rarely does a producer make a film based on an Indian novel. I was lucky as I am a journalist and had seen the industry at close quarters, had an ear to the ground, was writing nearly 20 columns a month at one stage and a book on Rekha was my kinda book. I wrote it and enjoyed every minute of it. Now I am enjoying the attention it is getting, the response from readers and media...and yeah, the response from Rekha too.

The daughter of actors Pushpavalli and Gemini Ganesan, Rekha started her career as a child actress in Telugu films

Background and Synopsis
Mohan Deep had previously written biographies of two other Bollywood actresses, Madhubala and Meena Kumari, who had died at young ages. He decided to write about Rekha, who was still alive and active in the film industry, to avoid criticism for "raking up the past" of deceased people. He said that he wanted to "discover" the real Rekha, who had a mysterious and glamorous persona. He titled the book Eurekha!, a combination of her name and the word eureka.
The book traces Rekha's life from her childhood, when she was forced to act in films by her father, to her rise to fame and success in Bollywood. It also details her personal life, including her marriage to Mukesh Aggarwal, who committed suicide a year after their wedding, and her rumored relationship with Amitabh Bachchan, who was married to another actress, Jaya Bachchan. The book claims that Rekha and Bachchan had an affair that started during the shooting of Do Anjaane (1976) and lasted for several years. The book also explores Rekha's other affairs, controvers
