Ruth Ann Roche (18 February 1917 – 4 May 1983)[2] was a writer and editor in the Golden Age of Comic Books. She was also the business partner of Jerry Iger.
Life and career
Roche started as a writer at the Eisner-Iger Studio, a packager for Fiction House, in 1940. She wrote such features as "Phantom Lady", "Senorita Rio", "Sheena, Queen of the Jungle", "Kaanga", and "Camilla". She also wrote the female-led adventure newspaper strip Flamingo, drawn by Matt Baker and syndicated by Iger's Universal Phoenix Features Syndicate. Biography
Ruth Sylvia Gill (2 Oct 1908-6 July 1993) was the daughter of Col. William Gill and Ruth Littlejohn She married Edmund Maurice Burke Roche, 4th Baron Fermoy, son of James Boothby Burke Roche, 3rd Baron Fermoy and Frances Ellen Work, on 17 September 1931. She was styled as Baroness Fermoy on 17 September 1931. [1]
She served the Royal Household as Extra Woman of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1956, and was promoted to Woman of the Bedchamber in 1960, a post she held until her death in 1993. She was invested

Ruth Sylvia Roche, Baroness Fermoy, DCVO, OBE (néeGill; 2 October 1908 – 6 July 1993) was a friend and confidante of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the maternal grandmother of Diana, Princess of Wales. She was one of the Queen Mother's ladies-in-waiting.
Biography
Lady Fermoy was born Ruth Sylvia Gill at Dalhebity House, Bieldside, Aberdeenshire, the daughter of Colonel William Smith Gill and his wife, Ruth (née Littlejohn, daughter of David Littlejohn, DL).[1] She showed early promise as a pianist and studied under Alfred Cortot at the Paris Conservatoire in the 1920s.[2]
Her musical career was cut short when she met the wealthy and much older Maurice Roche, 4th Baron Fermoy. They married on 17 September 1931 at St. Devenick's Church in Bieldside, Aberdeenshire. Lord and Lady Fermoy had three children, including Frances, who would become the mother of Diana, Princess of Wales.
