1908: Swami Muktananda (birth name, Krishna), known to his followers simply as Baba, was born in Karnataka State, India.
1923: At age fifteen, Muktananda, then Krishna, first saw his future Guru Bhagavan Nityananda, and soon after left home in search of a spiritual life.
1947: Muktananda received Shaktipat (spiritual initiation) from his Guru Bhagawan Nityananda. Over the next decade Muktananda spent his time living and meditating in a small hut in the village of Yeola, Maharashtra.
1956: Bhagawan Nityananda gave Muktananda a small parcel of land a few kilometres from his own ashram where Muktananda built a small hut with and cultivated a rose garden.
1961 (August 8): Muktananda’s Guru, Bhagawan Nityananda, died. The death of Bhagawan Nityananda left multiple successors, including Muktananda, to what is now considered a Siddha Yoga lineage.
1970: Muktananda’s first world tour took place. Toward the end of the 1970’s, Muktananda and a small group of devotees travelled and taught Siddha Yoga in Europe, Australia, Singapore and America.

Bhagawan Nityananda (November/December, 1897[1] – 8 August 1961) was an Indian guru. His teachings are published in the "Chidakash Gita". Nityananda was born in Koyilandy (Pandalayini), Madras Presidency, British India (now in Kozhikode district, Kerala).

Childhood
Details about Bhagawan Nityananda's birth are relatively unknown. According to his disciples, Nityananda was found as an abandoned infant in Tuneri village, Koyilandy, Madras Presidency, British India by a lady named Uniamma Nair, who was married to Chathu Nair. The Nair couple adopted this child and took care of him along with their own five children. Nityananda was named as Raman by his foster parents. The Nair couple were farmers, who also took care of the farms owned by a wealthy lawyer named Ishwar Iyer, who greatly trusted them.[2] Nityananda's foster father died when he was three and his foster mother when he was six. Bhagawan Nityananda ( - ), Raman de son prénom de naissance, mais plus couramment appelé "Bade Baba", est un maître spirituel hindou révéré en Inde et dans le Siddha Yoga. Son nom signifie perpétuelle (nitya) félicité (ananda). Il a notamment eu pour disciple Swami Muktananda, à son tour maître de Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, représentante actuelle du Siddha Yoga dans le monde. Selon Swami Muktananda, Nityananda appartenait à une catégorie de Yogis appelé par Abhinavagupta: "Samsiddhika gurus" ou "Janma Siddhas", des yogis nés réalisés, et qui ne suivent pas le chemin classique des pratiques spirituelles ou du service auprès d'un Guru[1]. En hommage et par respect pour lui, ses disciples l’ont appelé Bhagavan, un terme qui signifie « le Seigneur, le vénérable, le grand être. ».
